Triple citrus! Woah! Why has this not happened before? As much as I love citrus I have never tried combining all three of my favorites, especially in a cocktail creation. It was all I ever dreamed lemon, lime, grapefruit and vodka could be. This summer cocktail is fresh and just barely sweet with the perfect amount of bright citrus flavor.
Legal matters require at least one cocktail to get through all of the confusing language. So make a Triple Citrus Greyhound and lets talk about the legal side of food blogging.
One of the most protective investments you can make in your food blog is getting your legal side in order. I know it’s no fun to write disclosures and policies but once it is done it provides you the freedom to publish to the world wide web while protecting YOUR intellectual property. This is really the key part. Every word that you write, photo you take and every ounce of love, care and attention you put into your work is yours and you have the right to protect it! I have been very lucky to have had very respectful interactions on the web from people requesting to use my work with due credit. I have yet to find any stolen work on the internet but I am aware of the reality of the wild world The Salty Tomato lives in and I want to do everything I can to protect my stuff.
Fellow Food Blogger: “Where did you learn all this legal stuff, Lauren?”
Me: (sip of Triple Citrus Greyhound) “I’m glad you asked. Small Business Bodyguard taught me.”
I can not take any of the credit. Rachel (the lawyer) and Ash (the entrepreneur) from Small Business Bodyguard (affiliate link: Mahalo!) taught me everything I know.
WARNING! Their language is not clean but holy s*!# they are funny.
If you like sassy, funny, and entertaining legal advise then I highly recommend Small Business Bodyguard. I bet you never thought you would see the words entertaining and legal in the same sentence. In my opinion their resource is worth every penny. It’s easy to use, provides checklist and outstanding comprehensive templates that you customize to your site or product. Cutting and pasting from someone else’s website is risky business. Your goals and products may be on a different path or have a different goal or end state.
“Prepare for the business you want; not the business you have.”
Rachel and Ash, this drink is for you. Mahalo for making legal advise easy!
