“First Chair” is my Breckenridge Bourbon creation that takes me back to my Colorado ski vacation and the best ski buddies a girl could ask for. It is pretty amazing that living in Hawaii I have still been able to get in 9 shredding days this year! Yes, I did just use the word “shredding.” I adore skiing. The mountain and water are my true stress releases.
Breckenridge is a sleepy Colorado ski town that comes to life when the powder builds up. There is a small distillery, Breckenridge Distillery, that makes fantastic spirits. Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey has won many awards for its perfect balance of flavors. I would describe the high-rye mash blend as subtly smoky with a “just enough” sweet finish. This cocktail highlights the bourbon in a way that is pure and slightly flavored. If you can’t find Breckenridge Bourbon I recommend using Bulleit Bourbon. Mix up a First Chair and be transported to the feeling of snow falling on your nose as you are catching the chairlift to fresh tracks.
